I’ve always been a fan of Jamie Lee Curtis. Not only because I feel she’s a great actress, but I also appreciate how she uses her fame to promote great causes such as literacy. Here’s another great cause, the Home Town Heroes Celebrity Portrait Campaign. This campaign throws the spotlight on celebrities who have done some great things such as volunteer for Red Cross. The Red Cross started the Hometown Heroes Campaign to highlight the joys of volunteering with the Red Cross, and by using celebrities like Jamie Lee Curtis; they are really showing how diverse the Red Cross volunteer corps are. Jamie Lee is one of many major celebrities involved in this campaign, and hopefully one of many more to come.

For the Hometown Heroes campaign, Jamie teamed up with fundraiser and action ready gal, Carmela Burke. Carmela has been volunteering for the Red Cross since 1992, and actually has a lot in common with Jamie. Both of these fantastic women have made a great name for themselves through their volunteer work with the Red Cross.

All this and she’s raising a couple of kids, with her husband Christopher Guest, blogging for the Huffington Post and volunteering for other charities including AIDS and children’s causes.
